The Connection Project’s Warming Shelter, located at 900 W. Norfolk Ave in Norfolk, Nebraska, provides a safe overnight refuge for individuals in need during cold weather. Open daily from 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM, the shelter ensures a warm, secure environment for guests. The doors lock promptly at 10:00 PM and reopen at 6:00 AM, with no entry or exit allowed during these hours to maintain safety and order.
Guests must complete a daily check-in at The Connection Project’s Wellness Center, located at 119 W. Norfolk Ave, prior to 8:00 PM to secure a spot for the evening. Arrival at the shelter is required between 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM, with late arrivals only permitted with prior staff approval. The shelter operates on a first-come, first-served basis, ensuring fairness in assigning sleeping areas.
To foster a respectful and supportive atmosphere, guests must adhere to rules prohibiting violence, drugs, alcohol, weapons, and disruptive behavior. Quiet hours are enforced from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM to allow restful sleep for all. Guests are also expected to maintain cleanliness and respect shared spaces. Violations of the rules may result in warnings, suspension, or removal from the shelter.
